Covid-19 FAQs
Your questions answered
Do I need a Covid-19 test?
Although Indigo Expeditions does not require you to get a Covid-19 test prior to the start of your expedition or research placement, host country travel restrictions may require it. We’ll let you know if this is a requirement closer to the departure date.
Do I need travel insurance?
You must take out appropriate travel insurance for your expedition or research placement. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions.
Can i change my dates?
Yes you can change your expedition or research placement dates.
Our standard policy for changing start dates and expeditions is that you can do so up to > 60 days prior to departure unless in exceptional circumstances. Please contact us for more details.
what if borders close?
This may be returning home (if safe and possible) or we’ll continue to be able to provide food, accommodation and in-country support to ensure that you stay safe and well looked after.
Director of Research Rowland Griffin personally guarantees the best possible attention to your health and safety not only for the duration of your expedition or research placement, but an extended stay if a local lockdown was to occur.
What if indigo cancels?
What happens if Indigo Expeditions cancels my expedition or research placement?
It’s highly unlikely that we’ll cancel an expedition or research placement, but if this is the case we’ll contact you as soon as possible and offer a guaranteed place on another expedition or research placement with no extra charge to make that change.
Please see our Terms & Conditions
CANCELLATION
Indigo Expeditions will make every effort to avoid cancelling your expedition. In the unlikely event an expedition does not have the minimum number of Participants, we reserve the right to cancel the expedition, and you will be able to either join another expedition or receive a full refund. Indigo Expeditions is not responsible for any costs or losses incurred as a result of cancellation, or cancellation due to acts of war, terrorism, or natural disaster, and recommends you take out adequate travel insurance at the time of booking.
What happens if there is a Covid-19 outbreak
If there is a Covid-19 outbreak on your expedition or research placement, Indigo Expeditions has always exceeded health, safety and hygiene requirements, including bio security, due to the nature of the research.
In addition all our expeditions and research placements include social distancing measures, private research and accommodation facilities, and quarantine areas for those that may be ill, or suspected of being ill.
Closer to the expedition start dates we’ll be producing in-depth procedures and guidelines that you will be able to access and see.
If someone is diagnosed with Covid-19, we’ll contact both local and international health authorities, and your own insurer, and make sure to follow suitable advice. This may involve setting up areas for isolation within the expedition area, but we’ll ensure that you have everything you need during that time.
